Services - Tires
Proper tire maintenance is critical to the safe operation of your vehicle, and will also improve fuel economy, extend the life of your tires, provide better vehicle handling, help to prevent certain types of breakdowns and collisions, and reduce exhaust emissions that contribute to environmental, health, and climate change problems. Without proper maintenance, your tires could fail and cause you to lose control of your vehicle.
Tire services we provide
Some of the most important tire services we provide include:
- Alignment - prevents uneven wear and ensures better handling
- Balancing - prevents excessive wear-and-tear on the suspension systems
- Rotation - prolongs the life of your tires and reduces risk of sudden failure
- Tread inspection - good treads ensure better efficiency and responsiveness
- Damage inspection - helps to prevent sudden tire failures
- Storage recommendation - see Storage Tips (below...)
Safety tips
When it comes to personal health, prevention is the best cure. The same applies to tires as well as general vehicle maintenance.
- Driving with under-inflated tires at high speeds in warm weather is dangerous. Check your tires regularly (at least once each month) and especially before going for a long trip.
- Make sure your tires are inflated to the correct levels and do not exceed their load limit. The limits are usually documented on a sticker that the manufacturer affixed to the inside of the driver's-side door. If not, you can contact us or the manufacturer of your vehicle to find out what the correct load limit is.
- Inspect your tires regularly for uneven tread wear, cuts, cracks, bulges, and foreign objects.
- Rotate your tires on a regular basis (contact us to find out more about tire rotation service).
Storage tips
Tires should be stored within certain guidelines to ensure that they will be useful when they are needed again (e.g., as weather conditions change due to seasonal cycles).
- Keep upright, in an indoor location where the tempurature is generally consistent
- Keep out of direct sunlight or exposure to strong artificial light or heat
- Keep away from ozone (electrical motors) and hydrocarbons
- If stored on their rims, the tire pressure should be reduced to approximately 15 psi to avoid cracking or deformation
